Obstetric violence is a public health problem and a human rights issue, has a multifactorial origin where institutional and gender violence converge. The objectives of the research were to determine the perceptions of parturients about obstetric violence at the Carlos Elizalde Inclusive Health Center in the city of Cuenca, characterize the population according to sociodemographic variables, determine the types of perceived violence and relate them to these variables. A descriptive, transversal and retrospective study was carried out. The test was applied to report obstetric violence to 86 women older than 19 years, who decided to participate in the study prior consent. Women did not perceive psychological violence and in a low percentage physical violence and intervention mainly the use of medicines to accelerate labor (174%) and artificial rupture of membranes (5.8%). The women surveyed were predominantly young between 19 and 29 years old (89.5%), of rural origin (58.1%), with low level of education (69.8%), housewives (55.8%) and in free union (58.14%). Only 19.7% knew of any law that protected the rights of women in relation to obstetric violence and a favor of humanized childbirth. According to the types of violence, women did not perceive psychological violence and in a low percentage physical violence was perceived by the intervention or the performance of the procedures during labor and participation, without prior notice and in writing.
