Resumen
Sexual assertiveness is a social skill that conditions the actions of individuals in the field of sexuality, both to take the initiative or reject the sexual act in an appropriate way and so it is also about negotiating the methods of protection against sexuality unwanted pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, sexual assertiveness is an issue of great interest, and this time, even more so in rural contexts, where the issue of sexuality is approached with less freedom. This research has a quantitative, non-experimental study-type approach with a descriptive scope. The general objective was to describe the levels of the dimensions of sexual assertiveness according to the sociodemographic variables of emerging adults in rural Buenos Aires of the canton of Cuenca. Participants were 134 young people aged 18 to 25. The tools used for information collection were a socio-demographic tab and scale of SAS sexual assertiveness. Data processing was done through Excel and SPSS version 25 programs; descriptive statistics techniques were used for information analysis and presented through tables and graphs. The results showed that the dimensions evaluated by the instrument (onset of desired sexual activity, rejection of unwanted sexual activity and negotiation of protection methods) have an average of 1.73, 1.43 and 1.27 (respectively). In conclusion, the results show that participants have a lower level of sexual assertiveness in general.
