Resumen
The aim of this study was to demonstrate the neuroprotective effect of cannabinoid components (CBD and THC) in a model of neurodegeneration induced with monosodium glutamate, highlighting the positive impacts that these components have on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. This is a correlational research with an experimental prospective approach of experimental design, carried out with a sample of 40 male Mus musculus mice. CBD was administered intraperitoneally as the first dose (20 mg/kg), and the second dose (50 mg/kg), in addition a dose of CBD+THC (50+25 mg/kg) and a vehicle (coconut oil), memantine hydrochloride extended release + donepezil hydrochloride (28 mg/10 mg) was applied orally. The techniques used were recognition test and inhibitory control test, these results were expressed quantitatively, which favored the objective interpretation of neurological damage, product of monosodium glutamate; In the same way, the implementation of the tests facilitated data gathering in order to apply ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) statistical analyzes and control graphs through the Minitab software, in this way, it was demonstrated that the processes applied are under a statistical control. After the therapy, it was concluded that there is an evident improvement in short and long-term memory of the animals, as well as in their learning. It is recommended to prioritize research based on scientific and clinical evidence of the medicinal effects of cannabinoid components, acting as an alternative treatment in different diseases.
