Resumen
Physical inactivity and sedentary lifestyle is the most daily lifestyle, with more frequency it tends to increase public health problems, such as weight gain and alterations in the lipid profile. The objective of the present study was to determine the influence of physical activity on the lipid profile of 54 diabetic adults from the “Alfredo Noboa Montenegro Hospital”. Non-experimental design study of a cross-sectional type. The data collected were Body Mass Index (BMI), lipid profile and physical activity measured with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Descriptive statistics of each variable and statistical tests of significance (Anova) were performed. The average age was 66 years, of the participants the largest number was women. The overweight and obese subjects with moderate physical activity presented a normal lipid profile compared to the subjects with adequate weight and sedentary lifestyle who presented altered values of their lipid profile (p = 0.311). It was found that physical activity influences triglyceride values and not on the other values of the lipid profile; therefore the hypothesis is rejected; However, it should be noted that the subjects with a higher degree of physical activity presented lower triglyceride values (p = 0.006).
