Resumen
The objective of this study was to determine the tourism progress based on the development of sustainable transport for the Penipe canton, Chimborazo province, the research was carried out, applying the mixed approach methodology, both qualitative and quantitative, cross-sectional design and exploratory, descriptive level, using documentary and bibliographic sources of information, making a field study determined that the information was deductive, in which the tourists who visit the Penipe canton were taken as a population, using direct observation techniques through observation sheets, surveys and interviews, with which it was possible to determine the current situation in the field of sustainable transport and tourism such as: tourist places, location, administration, protected areas, products and services, facilities and access, available transport services, vehicular flow, mobility infrastructure, road safety , functionality, operationality and viability. The proposal is part of the implementation of a bike path to contribute to the development of sustainable transport and with it the increase in tourism in Penipe, it has been determined that it is a feasible project due to the great reception of tourists, residents, public and private entities, direct and indirect beneficiaries, who agree that through the growth of sustainable transport and its implementation within the canton, it will contribute significantly to tourism progress, due to its importance due to the economic income it generates. Concluding that it is technically and economically viable since there are budgets for improving the tourism and transport sector to promote accessibility, environmental improvement and economic development. The implementation of this investigation by the competent authorities is recommended, including the budget for its execution.
