Odor transduction takes place in the cilia of olfactory sensory
neurons (OSNs) of the olfactory epithelium, where they are
surrounded by sustentacular cells (SCs) and covered by a
mucus layer. Upon odorant binding, an odor receptor couples
to a G-protein
