Resumen
Hemostatic disorders in visceral leishmaniasis are triggered by immune-mediated
processes, resulting in inflammation and hepatic and renal lesions. The study
describe the alterations in hemostasis and relate them to clinical aspects and
histopatological findings. In the canine visceral leishmaniasis group (GLVC)
thrombocytopenia was observed in 14 dogs (51,85%), with no correlation between
the increase in APTT and hepatic lesion (r= -0,20). Eleven dogs with hepatic lesions
predominantly periportal mononuclear hepatitis mild multifocal (29,62%) and in
kidneys mononuclear interstitial nephritis predominated in varying degrees (59,25%),
membranous glomerulonephritis (18,51%), interstitial fibrosis and periglomerular
(18,51%). Comparing the parasite load of kidneys (P=0,48) and liver (P= 1,0) no
significant values was observed. Histopathological findings in kidney and alterations
in primary hemostasis are consistent findings in visceral leishmaniasis, while the
hepatic damage can extend the results on secondary hemostasis tests
