Perforating operations do not take long, the last around one millisecond. Even though, its efficiency is crucial for hydrocarbon production along the well life. The operation consists in placing shaped charges in the bottom hole. Once shot, these charges are capable of opening tunnels along casing, cement and reservoir rock. This establishes connection between reservoir and wellbore and enables hydrocarbons flow to surface. However, in order to establish profitable oil recovery it is necessary to analyze a lot of parameters related to perforating, as perforating method, gun type and charge type. Selection of those parameters takes in consideration reservoir conditions, completion method and others. The main goal of this project is to feature advances in perforating operations and after analysis of different types of completion to achieve proper perforating technique selection applied to a variety of well conditions. This study was based in various researches articles about the technology of well perforations. Based in parameters studied and results of previous studies applied in the last decades, determination of appropriate decision to be taken in perforating operations has taken place in this work.
