This report presents the results of the intervention research process conducted at the Patio Bonito Educational Institution in the rural area of the city of Monteria, which is a study from the paradigm of qualitative research with a complex systemic approach whose purpose was to implement teaching strategies that develop reading comprehension skills in students of academic secondary education, which seeks to impact all systems that make up the institution, as there is a didactic proposal to be implemented in all grades. For this purpose, a documentary review of the SABER test results, the Educational Quality Synthetic Index, the PEI and the evaluation system, among others, was carried out. In addition, discussion groups were held with teachers from different levels and unstructured interviews with teachers, parents and students, which made it possible to establish that reading was one of the main needs to be addressed from the didactic point of view. Based on this conclusion, a research background search was carried out to observe other studies that had been conducted on this topic and to establish the state of the question. Likewise, the theoretical foundations that from the General Didactics and the specific Didactics of the Spanish Language could direct the design and implementation of strategies tending to develop reading comprehension skills are raised. Similarly, this search for theoretical foundations was carried out in the methodological field, since it was necessary to find an adequate route for the analysis of the information gathered in the study, which finally shows that the didactic strategies applied contributed to the improvement of some reading comprehension skills of the students, which is reflected in their own narratives, the observations of teachers and directors, and finally in the results of the Saber test and the internal evaluations.
