Resumen
The objective of this study is to understand the narratives generated by diverse families in relation to family coping, taking into account their life stories in the Colombian context. The research involved two participating families, a homoparental family from the Colombian Caribbean region, and a diverse family from the capital of Colombia. This research is qualitative, therefore, by applying the biographical method, specifically with the technique of life stories, this research aims to answer how the dynamics of diverse families are configured, and how their coping strategies are constituted through socialization in the family. Family configuration, life cycle stages and coping strategies are proposed as categories within the research. Thus, the information collected was interpreted by means of categorical analysis taking into account the previously established categories: family configuration, family life cycle, coping strategies. Throughout the analysis, the following emerging categories emerged: Coping in relation to sexual orientation and/or gender identity and family confrontation in terms of couple formation. Taking into account the results obtained, a confrontation is established between different authors and the stories obtained from the participants, in order to answer the problem question. Taking into account the subcategories of the family configuration, similarities are evidenced in terms of rules and hierarchies. Throughout the different stages of the life cycle, significant differences were found with respect to the postulates regarding the establishment of roles within the housework and the care of the children. Likewise, the crises present in the different stages are satisfactorily overcome by their members; on the contrary, crises such as the acceptance of roles as parents and the inclusion of a member in the system are narrated in such a way that they do not represent a condition for which to feel fear or generate imbalances that are limiting for the system.
