Resumen
Objective: evaluate the validity and reliability of the Spanish version of the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) in teachers of public schools in the city of Bucaramanga. Materials and Methods: A study of evaluating diagnostic technology was made, thirty
public schools in Bucaramanga were randomly selected and 12 teachers were taken from each school for a total of 360 who were administered the instrument. Several variables and the fourteen questions of the instrument were evaluated. For the analysis was used the statistical software Stata I/C version 12 and Winsteps. Results: The mean age of participants was 47.2 ± 10.8 years, 216 (62.4%) women participated. It was observed that 74 (21.4%) teachers had a minimum score (zero) indicating an excellent quality of life related to oral health. Analyzing the set of items it was necessary to remove six. The remaining eight showed a range of MNSQ of infit between 0,82 and 1,24, and outfit between 0,83 y 1,16. DIF was not found according to the gender, categorized age (20-49 vs. 50-67) and socioeconomic status (high vs. low). An alpha Cronbach of 0.93 for all OHIP-14 was found. Conclusions: It was necessary to reduce to eight-item the instrument and the number of categories. The measurement of the internal consistency of the instrument, using the Alpha Cronbach coefficient was excellent. No Differential Item Function in the eight items and
346 persons evaluated by sex, age and socioeconomic status were presented.
