"The purpose of this work is to propose a methodology that allows evaluating compromises between the benefits of the use of fertilizers and pesticides (yields / profits) and the negative externalities of them (environmental and health effects). For the creation of this tool, research was carried out. on production costs per hectare cultivated and costs of inventory management in the Price Information System of the Agricultural Sector. The costs of the negative effects from the use of fertilizers and pesticides were consulted in the investigations of Leach (2008) and Von Blottnitz (2006) that were in charge of quantifying economically the negative effects of the use of fertilizers and pesticides. Regarding the behavior of the demand and the prices of the products, it was consulted in the National Federation of Cereal and Leguminous Cultivators. With this information two optimization models were elaborated: the first one plans the production (taking into account the utility for the farmer) and the second mitigates the environmental and social impacts caused by the first model, taking into account the farmer's point of view. say, the units of the product to be produced, the inventory management, the amount of fertilizer, pesticide and water used in the harvest of three products (wheat, corn and soybeans). In these two models, production policies related to the crop yield are used, this depends on the amount of fertilizer, pesticide and water used in each harvest. The study demonstrates the importance of providing tools for the elaboration of public policies in the agro-industrial sector focused on the moderate consumption of fertilizers and pesticides in agricultural crops that is one of those responsible for climate change."--Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.
