Resumen
Parasitic diseases are considered one of the most important problems affecting cattle producers in Colombia. The use of antiparasitic drugs like Ivermectin is common as a therapeutic strategy. The presence of this active component in milk and meat generates problems of public health concern. This study was conducted to evaluate the competitive ELISA technique as a method for ivermectin residues detection in cattle livers obtained of a slaughtering plant located in the Sabana of Bogota. Of 50 analyzed samples, 74% (37/50) were considered without residues, 26 %( 12/50) presented residue levels below the maximum allowed limit and 2% (1/50) exceeded the maximum residually level. The used technique proved to be an alternative, fast, sensitive and cheaper screening method for Ivermectin residue detection.
