La enseñanza de la Psicología en México, 1897-1916

Although psychology and showed progress in the search of his creation as a scientific discipline in countries like Germany, France, England, United States of America in the nineteenth century middle ground, his arrival in Mexico is given nineteen years later. Based on primary sources, this thesis supports the idea that psychology comes to Mexico as a result of a process of importing ideas generated in these countries that cut in the first instance, in education and not experimental.
Thus, the teaching of psychology into Mexico formally at the National University of Mexico , specifically in two of its most important institutions of the time, the National Preparatory School and the National School of de Higher Studies.
The structure of the programs of study and translation of books and articles written by the likes of Ezequiel A. Chavez, Enrique O. Aragon y James Mark Baldwin discussed in this paper, in order to show a of the what was teaching of psychology in the period from 1897 to 1916. This also describes the first courses offered for the formation of the teachers of psychology. The main objective of the courses are aimed at trying to learn, study, experiment and theorize about aspects of the mind that were previously unknown or demonized by ignorance or interests of those who remained in control of public education in Mexico.
There were differences in the contents of the teaching of psychology in the period in question, however the idea that persists is that psychology is the science of the mind. By studying and understanding the processes that are established in the mind, it would be possible to understand a series of changes that were not treated or included as suicides, homicides and homelessness
