The ability to work in the military police presents itself as an important indicator of occupational health, but the stressful routine can affect their quality of life. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between Work Ability Index in the quality of life of the Military Police of the City of Santa Maria. Participated in the study 85 male subjects with more than five years of experience as a military policeman. We excluded those who were out of work during the period of data collection and the military for some reason did not perform all the reviews that period. For statistical treatment created a database using Microsoft Office Excel 2012 software, and after the data were analyzed by statistical package Statistica 9.1. It used descriptive statistics using frequencies and subsequently became the correlation between the rate of work ability (WAI) and quality of life from the Spearman correlation coefficient. Among 85 police 54 good work ability (63.53%) and 50 (58.83%) were considered officers with satisfactory quality of life according to the Pentagon's welfare. When applied the Spearman correlation coefficient was significant correlation (p <0.05) between ICT and Quality of Life. In conclusion, the ability to work can affect the quality of life of military police, why are recommended policies that provide a pleasant working environment and preventive measures to optimize their quality of life.
