dc.description.abstractOver the past years, there have emerged several reflections related to rapid changes in the scientific, political, educational and social areas, resulting from technological innovations. This article presents the results of the master's research that aimed to study, analyze and systematize the main ideas that guide and shape the management of public academic libraries, specifically about technological innovations. This study used a comparative method, drawn from four search categories, based on the theoretical basis on the management of academic libraries, aiming its review. The research focuses on issues that would likely have major impacts in the academic libraries, besides the main challenges faced: planning and evaluation; staff; users; products and services. It was identified the evolution and adaptation of academic libraries regarding the use of TIC, to better encounter the information needs of its members. Planning the informational unit and viewing the future are possibilities derived from knowledge management, which can instrumentalize managers to position the libraries in the context of universities, to prioritize them in the allocation of budgetary resources and to consolidate them as co-responsible for the process of knowledge generation at the university.
