Approximately 3 decades ago the accelerated recovery protocols were described. ERAS corresponds to a protocol that is based on multidisciplinary and multimodal interventions that seek the best outcome of the surgical patient. In Colombia there is an institution accredited by the ERAS Society since 2016; Clínica Reina Sofia. So far, its results are unknown after the implementation of the protocol in colorectal surgery patients to establish differences in clinical outcomes in terms of complications and hospital stay in reference to the group prior to the application of the protocol. Methodology: Observational, descriptive study, with measurements before and after the application of the ERAS protocol. Information taken from the database of patients taken to colo-rectal surgery by the surgeons of Clínica Reina Sofía before and after the implementation of the ERAS protocol as a standard of institutional management for this type of patients. Results: A progressive adherence to the different aspects of the ERAS protocol was found. At the moment, overall compliance approaches 70%. Regarding the complication rate and hospital stay, a reduction was found in the group in which the protocol was implemented. Conclusion: The implementation of the different ERAS strategies together allows for better global postoperative results in patients undergoing colorectal surgery. The implementation of ERAS is a process that involves major changes at all levels, but that undoubtedly shows benefits for patients and hospital institutions.
