Informalidad globalizada: la globalización como oportunidad para incorporar a los asentamientos informales en la construcción de las ciudades del futuro

One of the most mentioned consequences of globalization is the tendency to generate poverty in the developing countries. In spite of this, this is a perspective analysis that leaves aside the opportunities generated by globalization in informal settlements and the capacities of the people that are within these territories. This article is a case study that analyzes the situation of an informal settlement located in the city of Bogotá, Colombia, based on the opportunities generated by globalization in terms of welfare. The first part of this article describes the methods used to fulfill the research, presents a conceptual framework and a review of the literature and policies implemented in this area. In the second part a characterization of the El Mochuelo sector and its relation with globalization is made, to present later the results found from an economic and social approach. Finally, an analysis is made on the relevance of globalization in informal settlements and the conclusions are presented.
