With over 15 years of experience in the Colombian market TECNOTRANSMISIONES LTDA has positioned itself as one of the leading companies in its sector, with offices in the major cities within Colombia and goals to immerse itself in the international market.
With this goal in mind, it ventured into the Ecuadorian market opening the first office in the city of Guayaquil and now thinking of setting up in other countries such as Costa Rica and Peru.
In its efforts to become distributors of international brands opportunities have been lost to add new business lines due to lack of internationalization of the company or the lack of offices in North America.
In order to generate business with brands that are not currently in its product portfolio TECNOTRANSMISIONES LTDA has had to resort to intermediaries who not only make the goods more expensive for the customer but also lower the profit margin.
Knowing that most goods provided by the United States and many of the brands they currently sell are sold by intermediaries, this paper asks whether the opening of a sales office in the United States is feasible to avoid the brokerage costs which are currently being incurred as well as meeting the expansion and internationalization objectives.
