Resumen
This paper analyzes the concept of Development as a discourse born in a metageographical space called the West. This discourse spreads and gets its unquestionable nature internationally through the processes of Professionalization and Institutionalization that put different social groups around the world in a situation of perceived vulnerability derived from their problematization as poor and the creation of an Identity of inferiority among them, this new identity places the West as the desired arrival point in the line of “progress”. Using Ikiam as an example, we’ll see that the so-called Development alternatives are not really questioning the Development itself but are subscribed on it due to the process described before. The concept of Posdevelopment will be proposed as an option to think outside of the western paradigm of Development.
