Resumen
International Cooperation’s architecture has been already through several changes. Among them, the emergence of South-South Cooperation allowed to glimpse developing countries’ profound interest to be part of it. In Brazil, Lula da Silva’s government was the one who gave a boost to this type of cooperation, especially with Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa. Within this context, this work aims to determine how the social construction of identity affects the dynamic of South-South Cooperation between Brazil and African Lusophone countries. Using a constructivist perspective, this work analyses the importance of different social, cultural and historical elements whose interaction configured specific perceptions between Brazil and African Lusophone countries. This process of social interaction enabled the consolidation of a positive identification between them, strengthening their rapprochement and increasing the amount and topics of cooperation projects developed between 2003 and 2010.
