Objective: To determine the effect of exercise on physical capacity, muscular strength-endurance, body composition and functional performance in adults with spinal cord injury (SCI). Method: The systematic search of the literature was carried out in PubMed, Trip Medical Database, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Scielo electronic libraries and ScienceDirect between 1990 and 2016. Results: Physical capacity improves if it is ≥16 weeks, 60 min/session, ≥2 days/week and 65-80% FC. Strength-Resistance, 4 sets of 8-10 reps, 3 sets of 12-15 reps, 65-80% FC, 2-3 days/week. Body composition, increases lean mass, lean muscle and lean muscle in leg, decreases weight, fat percentage, abdominal perimeter, BMI and calf fat. Functional performance improves if it is ≥4 weeks, 2-3 days/week and wave amplitudes of 8 to 125 mA. Conclusions: Exercise improves the components of health, physical capacity, strength-resistance, body composition and functional performance in patients with (LM).
