The objective of this article is to identify the incidence of the immigration policies during Bush and Obama’s administrations, in the labor standards of undocumented Colombians in the cities of Atlanta and Miami. The presented hypothesis, affirms that the transition that the immigration policy has suffered in the United States, has deteriorated the labor standards of unauthorized Colombians in the country. This article is divided in four sections. The first section defines the key concepts that must be taken into account. The second part delineates the labor conditions as the rights and guaranties every worker must have in the regulatory framework of the US. The third part explains the historical and theoretical evolution of the debate about immigration and its consequences in the creation of public policies. Finally the last part, analyzes the case, showing the results of the application of the immigration policies, in the presidential terms of Bush and Obama, in the labor standards of the undocumented Colombians in both cities.
