As a result of the Caribbean Business Mission carried out by the Administration School of the Rosario University, this document proposes an improvement for the packaging process of BanaFruts S.A.S. through the use of administrative theories focused on the quality management of the product as: Theory of Constraints, Kaizen and Zero defects.
The proposal in having less repetitive and more efficient quality control process throughout the product packaging, where only the workers will be responsible for defining which bananas accomplish with DOLE specifications at that stage and also ensure that they meet new saturation limits of the fruits in the tanks. These limits will be where 90% of the capacity of each tank is reached. For the desmane tank will be at a height of 0.54m; and for the saneo tank will be at a height of 0.49m. This will be done in a preventive and non-reactive manner as currently, ensuring that bananas are not harmed and excessive overhaul is reduced throughout the process. This change in quality management will, in the first instance, allow workers to focus on a single task and not have to re-verify product quality aspects, followed by increased productivity in processing Bananas by them.
In addition, emphasis is placed on the importance of continuous process improvement in general to ensure a gradual increase in productivity. For this, a new model of human resources management is proposed where operators will be more proactive; they will have greater participation in the identification and solution of problems and will be in charge of carrying out their work in a more efficient way. In this sense, the actions to be taken will be: to select, organize, clean and standardize.
Finally, it is necessary to standardize the process, that is to say that there must be a continuous revision to not allow the mistakes to be repeated. All these actions will be in charge of a leading team called "BanaFruts Team". It will have the responsibility to accompany the workers in carrying out the mentioned activities and to measure their results.
