Abstract

The interest of this case study is to understand the impact of Japan's demographic problems on policies concerning the Japanese Social Security System as well as the feasibility of these policies facing the very difficult situation that exists. By observing how the demographic problems have affected the Social Security System, through past and present demographic studies and future populational projections, to compare the present mechanisms implemented by the Japanese Government and their results with the real needs of the Japanese Social Security System, opening the possibility to understand deeply the weaknesses and possible solutions to the problem that the System is facing.
