La incidencia de la cooperación internacional en la promoción del desarme ciudadano y prevención de la violencia en El Salvador (2009-2013).
Medina Cortés, Paola Andrea
The present study of case analyzes the problematics about the increasing phenomenon of use and possession of Small and Light Weapons (SLW), on the part of the civil population in El Salvador and the violence as transverse element in his history. For this, it is not possible not to ignore the significant efforts of El Salvador in the field of arms control. Therefore, taking into account the convulsive context of armed violence, largely for the strengthening of criminal structures, youth gangs and drug trafficking, the initiatives implemented through international cooperation are importants. This one, circumscribed in the framework of United Nations and based so much on the Programme of Action To Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons (PoA), as in the UNDP operation through Prevention of Violence and Construction of Social Capital Joint Program in El Salvador. These Programs have been considered guidance instruments in the fight against the use and illegal possession of SLW, in favor of peace, security and civil disarmament.
