Certified and specialty coffees born to build a new way of commercialization for the bean. The implication of certifying in the income and development for the coffee farmer are not yet clear, and it is due the lack of transferring information from the certifications. In that order, it will be ideal to focus all the industry efforts in building sustainability, by implementing certifications of quality and specialty that gives enough information access to the main producer, the industry and commercialization chain, and the consumer. The following paper shows the evidence in how de market for specialty and quality work in Colombia and other producing countries, and in which cases certification have a positive correlation with the farmers income and development.
