Cytotoxic Activity of Extracts and Sesquiterpene Lactones from Stachycephalum argentinum
(Molecular Diversity Preservation International, 2000-03)
The extracts and sesquiterpene lactones of S.argentinum were assayed to deter- mine their biological activity on Artemia salina. The most active compound was costunolide (1) with LD50 = 62 ppm.
GnRH neurones population in the diencephalon of the coypu (Myocastor coypus)Estudio inmunohistoquímico de la población de neuronas gnrh en el diencéfalo del coipo (Myocastor coypus)
(Sociedad Chilena de Anatomía, 2000-01)
The goal of this study was to investigate the distribution and morphology of neurones that synthesise and store gonadotrophin releasing factor (GnRH) in the diencephalon of the coypu (Myocastor coypus), a South American ...
Quantitative determination of the number of active surface sites and the turnover frequencies for methanol oxidation over metal oxide catalysts: I. Fundamentals of the methanol chemisorption technique and application to monolayer supported molybdenum oxide catalysts
(Elsevier Science, 2000-11)
A detailed study of the methanol chemisorption and oxidation processes on oxide surfaces allowed the development of a method to quantify the number of surface active sites (Ns) of metal oxide catalysts. In situ infrared ...
Intermediate filament protein expression and sugar moieties in normal canine placenta
(F Hernandez, 2000-01)
In the female dog, the placenta is considered zonal, endotheliochorial and labyrinthic. The distribution of the intermediate filaments as well as the surface glycoproteins in the canine placenta are still unknown. The aim ...
Use of a dynamic absorber in the case of a vibrating printed circuit board of complicated boundary shape
(Academic Press Ltd-elsevier Science Ltd, 2000-02)
An experimental investigation was carried out to examine the feasibility of using a dynamic absorber when a printed circuit board (PCB) of complicated boundary shape operates under resonance conditions. The dynamic response ...
Characterization of natural isolates of Lactobacillus strains to be used as starter cultures in dairy fermentation
(Elsevier Science, 2000-07)
The technological relevant characteristics of five homofermentative lactobacilli strains, isolated from natural fermented hard cheeses, were studied. Isolates CRL 581 and CRL 654, from Argentinian artesanal hard cheeses, ...
Cosmic Microwave Background Bispectrum and Slow Roll Inflation
(Oxford University Press, 2000-12)
Recent tentative findings of non-Gaussian structure in the COBE-DMR data set have triggered renewed attention on candidate models from which such intrinsic signature could arise. In the framework of slow-roll inflation ...
Processing of short-fiber reinforced polypropylene. I. Influence of processing conditions on the morphology of extruded filaments
(John Wiley & Sons Inc, 2000-12)
An experimental investigation of the processing of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene is presented. Final fiber orientation distribution, fiber distribution in filament sections, rheological properties, final fiber length ...
Identification and nucleotide sequence of genes involved in the synthesis of lactocin 705, a two-peptide bacteriocin from Lactobacillus casei CRL 705
(Wiley Blackwell Publishing, Inc, 2000-04)
The structural gene determinants of lactocin 705, a bacteriocin produced by Lactobacillus casei CRL 705, have been amplified from a plasmid of approximately 35 kb and sequenced. Lactocin 705 is a class IIb bacteriocin, ...
A scanning tunnelling microscopy view of the surfactant-assisted growth of iron on Cu(111)
(Elsevier Science, 2000-08)
We report a scanning tunnelling microscopy study of the growth of iron on Cu(111) using lead as a surfactant. In the absence of surfactant, the growth of iron on Cu(111) proceeds in the form of three-dimensional islands, ...
