A numerical treatment for the boundary value problem involving the Helmholtz equation Delta u - lambda(2)u = 0 is presented. The precision error for square grids is of order O(h(2)) and a stricter evaluation for the method is obtained when compared with the precision error for the standard finite difference scheme.
