Resumen
In this Project Mist Chamber was designed and built through the norm ASTM B-117 for corrosion tests for Chemical Engineering career of ESPOCH. The exposure chambers and its cover are built by a black tempered glass of 5 mm. A noiseless compressor was used of 3/4 Hp for mist-generation al which a filter was coupled. Followed to this, a humidifier is found that will give humidity to the compressed air. The heating system consists of a tubular resistance and a metal ventilator for the hot air circulation around of chamber. The sample holder and the auxiliary tank of solution were built of 4 mm acrylic in order to support the conditions into the chamber. The solution level is controlled thanks float type sensors, the same that continuously will supply for generating mist. An overall automatization of equipment was done in order to minimize the human intervention during the test. Finally, a test was carried out with students of eighth term of Chemical Engineering of ESPOCH, that was based on a lab technique in order to verify the proper operation of the same. The functionality of equipment is totally reliable because al 24 hour of work, visible results were obtained. With the aim of carrying out the project the most important variables were determined at the same time that were controlled in all designing and building process of Saline Mist Chamber, for getting optimal results in the equipment functioning process. The Saline Mist Chamber should be used by three days maximum (72 hours) per test, enough time for obtaining visible results, without necessity of over strive the equipment.
