The present redesign research was carried out at the Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Municipal Slaughtering Center of Francisco de Orellana, Orellana Province. For which the analytical method was used, which determined the variables considered important for the analysis of the wastewater from the treatment system, revealing the physical-chemical-biological conditions of the water treated in the plant. The respective analyses were carried out at the Soil, Water and Plant Laboratory (LABSU), using laboratory techniques and materials based on APHA, AWWA and WPCF 17 ed. standard methods. Laboratory results indicate that the concentration of chemical oxygen demand (350.87 mg/L), total iron (12.46 mg/L), total suspended solids (128.17 mg/L), settleable solids (2.33 mg/L), true color (516.5 PtCo) and fecal coliforms (2.01x106 Col/100ml) do not guarantee water quality according to TULSMA. The redesign will involve two improvement processes: the first corresponds to the sizing of a fine grid system (0.51m*0.40m), with 17 metal bars, 0.9cm thick and a separation between them of 1.5 cm; and the second consists of changing the filtering material of the first wetland, a layer of 30 cm of gravel of 5mm diameter, the second and third layers of 20 cm of gravel of 15 and 25 mm diameter respectively, and the second wetland, a layer of 40 cm of sand, the second and third layers of 15 cm of gravel of 15 and 25 mm diameter respectively. The redesign is of great importance because it will allow the discharge of a good quality effluent (Chambira River), which complies with the limits for discharge into a freshwater body, as established in current Ecuadorian environmental regulations. It is recommended that the municipality maintain quality control.
