dc.description.abstractIn Swine Production Unit of the Escuela Superior Politecnica de Chimborazo, located in Riobamba city, Chimborazo Province, we evaluated the effect of the biological response of a commercial probiotic versus a commercial antibiotic growth stage fattening pigs Landrace-York Shire using a completely randomized design, for a period of 120 days of investigation. At the end of the experiment, it was found that during the early stages of growth and fattening, pigs LandraceYork Shire treated with Micro-Boost achieved the best growth performance in terms of average final weight 97,40 kg, as well as feed conversion more efficiently, determining significant drops in bacterial load in terms of total and fecal coliforms using the commercial probiotic in the diet of pigs Landrace –York Shire, indicating better regulation of intestinal flora by using bio-based products for this end, establishing greater profitability by using the same probiotic, determining the highest rate of Profit-Cost reaching a value of 1,14 USD. As recommended Micro Boost 1 kg/Ton dose of additive in pig feed, since it presented satisfactory results from the point of view of production and cost, allowing greater control of intestinal bacterial load in therefore better use of nutrients from food for growing and fattening pigs, and conduct research on the stages of pregnancy and lactation in sows, in order to study the subsequent effects.
