Resumen
This article examines the relevence of considering constructivism as an appropriate metatheory for the study of social movements. Starting from the establishment of the principal suppositions of constructivism as an epistemological paradigm for the social sciences, it presents a selective recount of some constructivist socialogical orientations, and then attempts to apply this framing to the analysis of social movements; having as a base the necessity of deconstructing previous approximations that proved to be unsuitable, and the proposal for reconstructing the concept of social movements with the fundamentals of constructionism.
