Estudio de prefactibilidad para la oferta de bonos de carbono en cultivos y de reforestación de terrenos baldíos en Colombia

Abstract

This work aims to formulate a pre-feasibility study to evaluate the viability of offering carbon credits in the crops and reforestation of wastelands in Colombia by means of the ONUDI methodology. For this, the factors and conditions of the environment such as the political, economic, social, technological, ecological and legal aspects that affect the project are analyzed, in addition the market conditions are reviewed to identify the product, the place, the price and the promotion, the technical, administrative and legal aspects of the project are described, to review the role of intermediation between the interested parties, the farmers and the construction companies that need to compensate their emissions. And the project is financially evaluated using the criteria of cash flows, income statement, internal rate of return (IRR) and net present value (NPV). The results show that the project is viable for the case of a probable scenario and that it has a potential client in the construction guild, which must comply with the regulations of compensation of emissions by industry. The estimated price of carbon credits is 80 USD per ton of CO2 compensated. The project also contributes to the development of Colombian agriculture and to mitigate climate change.
