This work documents good sustainable development practices in the construction of social housing in Colombia. For this purpose, a qualitative approach, descriptive scope and non-experimental design is developed in which it is documented through primary sources of information such as semi-structured interviews, which were carried out with the sustainability and environmental directors of some of the largest and most important construction companies in the country, as well as potential clients of VIS social housing. The results reveal the best practices that the interviewees recognized in this matter, in topics such as: materials, energy, air, water, light, environment and biodiversity, among others. Aspects are highlighted such as the different certifications that exist worldwide and nationally, impediments to the execution of these good practices in this type of construction and the relevance of these implementations to obtain a competitive advantage in organizations. Furthermore, it will be evident whether sustainable development in the construction of buildings constitutes a tool that contributes to favorably or unfavorably encouraging the preferences of potential VIS home buyers towards homes that have the benefits that sustainable construction brings. Finally, this degree work is proposed as a document that identifies and validates some of the best practices implemented in the country as success factors, thus achieving brand differentiation in the sector via sustainable development.
