The author describes the process of planning and implementing the National Register of Homeless People, led by MIDEPLAN and proposes the key findings of it, along the lines of action defined. The latter shows that Homeless people in Chile are a small size group, therefore, the Government initiatives aimed at this group must be of minor scale, both in terms of budget and institutional resources involved, structuring as specialized initiatives according to the complexities and characteristics of this population. Key words )El autor describe en esta nota el proceso de planificación y desarrollo del primer Catastro Nacional de Personas en Situación de Calle, liderado por MIDEPLAN y entrega los principales hallazgos del mismo junto con las líneas de acción definidas. Estas últimas, indican que en Chile las Personas en situación de calle constituyen un grupo de tamaño reducido, por lo tanto, las iniciativas de Gobierno dirigidas a este grupo deben ser de escala menor, tanto en términos presupuestarios como de los recursos institucionales involucrados, estructurándose como iniciativas especializadas en las complejidades y características de esta población.
