Resumen
The increase in the life expectancy of the population forces the discussion about the extension of productive years, the delay in the retirement age and puts at risk the cancellation of en-joyment and rest in old age. In poor and/or peripheral countries, with fragile social security systems, work for the older population is the only form of economic subsistence that makes it possible to maintain the material conditions of life. In this context, they are forced to take precarious forms of formal or informal salaried work that do not provide a decent standard of living. This research analyzed representations and narratives about work in old age that are constructed in the media and social networks in Chile.
