Resumen
Las Malformaciones arteriovenosas cerebrales (MAVc) son anomalías
vasculares complejas compuestas por arterias y venas, localizados en
territorios vasculares profundos del cerebro medio, cerebelo y plexos coroideos.
Estos MAVc son susceptibles a la hemorragia por ruptura de vasos nidales,
aneurismas asociados o por obstrucción del flujo venoso de salida. Dentro de
la patogénesis son atribuidos al desarrollo anómalo del propio sistema vascular
cerebral, aunque la anomalía desencadenante continúa siendo un motivo de
controversia.
En el ámbito pediátrico las malformaciones arteriovenosas constituyen entre el
35 al 55% de las hemorragias cerebrales, con una incidencia de 1,4 por 100
000 personas, con una significativa morbi-mortalidad.
