Trastornos nutricionales y edéntulismo parcial en adultos mayores de una Comunidad Nativa de la Provincia de Lamas, San Martín 2023

Resumen
La investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre los trastornos nutricionales y el edentulismo parcial en adultos mayores de una comunidad nativa en el Perú. Para ello se realizó un estudio observacional y relacional en una muestra de 125 adultos que aceptaron su participación, a los cuales se realizó el registro del peso y talla para obtener el índice de masa corporal y luego se realizó el examen odontológico para identificar el tipo de edentulismo parcial según la clasificación de Kennedy. Posteriormente se buscó hallar su posible asociación con la prueba de Chi cuadrado y para la precisión del resultado se utilizó el Coeficiente de contingencia.
Obteniéndose como resultado una prevalencia de nutrición insuficiente en un 34,4% y un 8% de sobrepeso; el edentulismo maxilar más frecuente fue de clase I y II en el sexo femenino y de clase IV y I en el sexo masculino; el edentulismo mandibular más frecuente para ambos sexos fue las clases I y IV. Se halló asociación entre nutrición insuficiente con el edentulismo maxilar clase I y II (Coeficiente de contingencia 0,669) y asociación entre nutrición insuficiente con el edentulismo mandibular clase I (Coeficiente de contingencia 0,690).
Llegando a la conclusión que existe relación entre los trastornos nutricionales respecto a nutrición insuficiente y el edentulismo parcial de clases I y II.
