Resumen
This study analyzes in depth the experiences of the participants with the aim of knowing
the sense of community in a peasant population of the district of Chinchero, province of
Urubamba, in the Cusco region. Participants were current and former authorities of the
community. The qualitative methodology was used, and data collection was through
semi-structured interviews. Results have been organized into three dimensions. First,
community organization and participation, which includes three categories: recognition
and election of authorities, transition from collective to individual vision, and integration
of new members into the community. Second, collective identity, which has three
categories: lost of identity, sense of belonging, and territoriality. Third, actions aimed at
promoting the common good, which has two categories: solidarity and collective
cooperation, and cultural revaluation.
Concluding that the sense of community in the peasant population of Huila Huila has
transcended in time in an autonomous and progressive manner; However, it is inevitably
exposed to change, for this reason, the oldest members of the community seek to preserve
their original customs and traditions since otherwise they could become extinct.
