Resumen
The objective of this paper is to analyze the representation of the absurd in the Latin American Spanish translation of the mockumentary Cunk on Earth. For it, the absurd will be analyzed from a qualitative approach in different contexts of the object of study presented where this phenomenon is manifested both in the original version and in the official Latin American Spanish subtitled. The television series of false documentaries or mockumentaries have captured a social and cultural phenomenon in which absurd discourses are used in situations that present cultural and historical references, with the aim of attracting a wide audience, both Latin American and foreign. The mockumentary Cunk on Earth (2022) is a respective example that narrates real events but out of context, often with fictional and absurdist elements as a unique form of entertainment and social criticism. The protagonist, Philomena Cunk, is presented as a supposed journalist, who, despite her lack of seriousness and obvious misinformation, seeks to explain a variety of topics with the help of her interviewees, which are real experts on the topics to be discussed. treat. For this analysis, the following methods will be used: content analysis and textual-contrastive analysis, which will allow the analysis and comparison between the source text in English and the target text in Latin American Spanish. El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la representación del absurdo en la traducción al español latinoamericano del mockumentary Cunk on Earth. Para ello, se analizará el absurdo desde un enfoque cualitativo en diferentes contextos del objeto de estudio presentado donde se manifiesta este fenómeno tanto en la versión original como en el subtitulado al español latinoamericano oficial. Las series televisivas de falsos documentales o mockumentaries han capturado un fenómeno social y cultural en el cual se utilizan discursos absurdos en situaciones que presentan referencias culturales e históricas, con el objetivo de atraer a una amplia audiencia tanto latinoamericana como extranjera. El mockumentary Cunk on Earth (2022) es un ejemplo respectivo que narra hechos reales pero descontextualizados, muchas veces con elementos ficticios y absurdistas como una forma única de entretenimiento y crítica social. Junto con la protagonista, Philomena Cunk, se presenta como una supuesta periodista, que, a pesar de su falta de seriedad y obvia desinformación, busca explicar una variedad de temas junto a la ayuda de sus entrevistados, que son expertos reales en los temas a tratar. Para este análisis, se utilizarán los siguientes métodos: el análisis de contenido y el análisis textual-contrastivo, que permitirá analizar y comparar entre el texto origen en inglés y el texto meta en español latinoamericano.
