OR, valor de p, e IC95%.
dislipidemia y obesidad. Background: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) comprises a set of diseases that have in
common their origin in gastroesophageal reflux, there are esophageal motor disorders in DM being
one of the main GERD. The prevalence of esophageal motor disorders in DM has been reported to
be 63%, of which 41% reported GERD. Objective of the study will be to identify the factors
associated with the development of GERD in patients with DM in two hospitals in the city of Cusco,
2022.
Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study will be carried in two hospitals in the city of Cusco,
2022. Patients will be identified, considering patients diagnosed with DM I and II with symptoms of
GERD according to the GerdQ Test. Patients diagnosed with GERD with a non-diabetic etiology and
users of proton pump inhibitors will be excluded. To analyze the association, we will calculate OR, p
value, and 95% CI.
Expected results: We will study 17 possible factors associated with the development of GERD, it is
expected to find a frequency of development of GERD in patients with DM of at least 45%, the
potential associated risk factors to find: hbA1c level, baseline blood glucose, time of DM diagnosis,
use of Metformin, Glibenclamide, insulin dose, type of insulin, dyslipidemia and obesity.
