Resumen
En la actualidad la fractura de cadera, afecta principalmente a población de edad avanzada. Las causas más frecuentes son las caídas y la osteoporosis. También se considera un problema de salud pública muy importante, dado que no sólo es una lesión ortopédica, sino que sus consecuencias van más lejos, desde una disminución de la capacidad funcional, que suele llevar consigo un aumento de la dependencia, hasta la muerte. La población que sufre fractura de cadera, suele presentar otras patologías asociadas en muchos casos a la vejez, como por ejemplo enfermedades cardiovasculares, diabetes mellitus, demencia, enfermedades respiratorias, déficits sensoriales, etc. Este tipo de fractura, junto con las patologías mencionadas anteriormente, genera un deterioro funcional y una incapacidad, tanto para deambular como para realizar las actividades de vida diaria, desde las básicas hasta las instrumentales, que convierten a la persona en parcialmente dependiente o incluso totalmente dependiente. Por ello el presente trabajo empieza definiéndola, etiología, incidencia, conociendo su fisiopatología, signos y síntomas, donde lo más importante son los cuidados de enfermería de calidad.
