Sostenibilidad de arándano (Vaccinium corymbosum) azul cultivado en la región Chao, La Libertad, a través del Análisis emergético

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar el impacto ambiental que ocasiona la producción agrícola de arándano azul en un área de 99,79 ha, perteneciente a la empresa Agroindustrial TAL SA y ubicado en la región Chao - La libertad.
El impacto ambiental que genera la producción de arándano azul fue medido a través del análisis emergético. Se siguió la siguiente metodología: (a) identificación de los flujos de entrada y salida de la producción de arándano azul (insumos, materias primas, servicios, etc.); (b) conversión de todos los flujos a unidad de joules de energía solar (seJ) utilizando la “transformidad” (Cuadro de evaluación emergética); (c) cálculo de los indicadores de sustentabilidad emergéticos; (d) comparar los indicadores emergéticos del sistema con otros sistemas similares.
Los recursos provenientes de la naturaleza representaron el 23,8% del flujo total del sistema, siendo la diferencia 76,2% recursos provenientes de la economía. Se obtuvo una renovabilidad de 22,2%, una razón entre los recursos no renovables y renovables de 1,73, un rendimiento emergético de 1,31, una inversión emergética de 3,21, una carga ambiental de 3,5 y un índice emergético de sustentabildiad de 0,37. Los indicadores emergéticos demostraron que el sistema de la producción agrícola de arándano azul es poco eficiente, presenta una baja renovabilidad y un impacto moderado al ecosistema. Por lo tanto, el sistema de producción agrícola de arándano azul en la región de Chao no es sostenible ambientalmente.
