En la investigación se evaluó si existe relación entre Coliformes totales, Coliformes termotolerantes y Escherichia coli con la temperatura, pH y demanda bioquímica de oxígeno en la playa de Puerto Malabrigo durante noviembre 2015 a abril 2016. La evaluación consistió en analizar los parámetros biológicos y químicos de dos estaciones de muestreo, zona de bañistas y zona de fábricas, donde se establecieron 6 puntos de muestreo. En cada mes se hicieron 4 series de muestras, utilizando como indicadores de contaminación fecal a Coliformes totales (CT) 1000 NMP/100ml, Coliformes Termotolerantes o fecales (CF) 200 NMP/100 ml de acuerdo a la Norma Técnica peruana y también Escherichia coli (EC) 0 NMP/100 ml. Los resultados de los análisis realizados de muestran que los indicadores bacteriológicos no superaron los Estándares de Calidad Ambiental, para fines recreativos de contacto primario, excepto Escherichia coli con 87.73 NMP/100 ml para la zona de bañista y 55.44 NMP/100 ml para la zona de fábricas. La relación con la temperatura, pH y demanda bioquímica de oxígeno con los Coliformes totales, Termotolerantes y Escherichia coli muestran que si existe una relación positiva entre las variables excepto el pH que describe una correlación negativa con los indicadores de contaminación fecal.
