Determinantes económicos y sociales que influyen a la desigualdad del estado nutricional de la población infantil entre 0.5 y 5 años de edad en el departamento de La Libertad, período 2000 - 2016

Hasta hoy las estadísticas en nuestro país nos reafirma que la prevalencia
de niños con desnutrición crónica sigue situándose en los hogares más
pobres donde la tasa de desnutrición entre los niños menores de 5 años
está por encima del 28% y este mal desacelera el crecimiento económico
y perpetúa la pobreza mediante tres vías: pérdidas directas en
productividad debidas a un mal estado físico, pérdidas indirectas
ocasionadas por el mal funcionamiento cognoscitivo y deficientes niveles
de escolaridad, y pérdidas debidas a mayores costos en la atención de
salud. Por lo tanto se trata de un fenómeno complejo porque es causado
por múltiples determinantes acumulados a lo largo de un período de
tiempo en el cual se busca explicar dichos determinantes económicos y
sociales que afectan a las desigualdades nutricionales en nuestra región
de La libertad.
La metodología a utilizar se basa en la estimación de un modelo de
regresión multivariado que permite calcular el efecto del vector de
variables a nivel del niño y del hogar, a partir de la base de un modelo de
hogares en particular a lo expuesto por Stifel y Alderman (2003), usando
las rondas de la ENDES 2000, ENDES-07, ENDES-12 y ENDES 2016.
Del resultado se obtiene que a nivel de La Libertad el índice de
desigualdad del estado nutricional de los niños entre 0.5 y 5 años de edad
se acentúa mas par el ámbito rural que la zona urbana y además se
explica que la variable que en mayor medida influyen en el estado
nutricional es el nivel socioeconómico del hogar (42%), como un proxy del
índice de riqueza, seguido de ella las que influyen son los años de
educación de la madre, la desviación estándar talla/edad de la madre y no
muy significativas el vector de variables a nivel del niño.
