Determinación de hemoglobina y hematocrito y su relación con los hábitos alimenticios en personas adultas de ambos sexos pertenecientes a la Iglesia Adventista del distrito de Trujillo, La Libertad – mayo 2012”

En el presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar el nivel de Hemoglobina y Hematocrito y su relación con los hábitos alimenticios en personas adultas de ambos sexos pertenecientes a la Iglesia Adventista del Distrito de Trujillo, La Libertad – Mayo 2 012, previo consentimiento informado, se tomaron las muestras y realizamos las determinaciones bioquímicas de Hemoglobina (Hb), mediante método espectrofotométrico (el hierro ferroso pasa a hierro férrico y posterior cuantificación de cianometahemoglobina formada) y Hematocrito (Hto), por el método de microhematocrito (separación de los eritrocitos del plasma por acción de la fuerza centrífuga y medición del volumen de ellos) y para la relación con los hábitos alimenticios, se aplicó una encuesta. Un total de 85 personas, 23.5% del sexo masculino y 66.5% del sexo femenino, el nivel de Hemoglobina en el 80% de los asistentes, se encontraron dentro de los rangos normales y el 18.8%, valores disminuidos, y en cuánto a los niveles de Hematocrito se encontró que el 84.7% de las personas estuvieron dentro de los valores normales, y el 12.9%, presentaron niveles bajos. La relación entre las variables, aplicando la prueba Chi cuadrado, reveló que no existe relación significativa entre hábitos alimenticios y el nivel de Hematocrito (p > 0.05), sin embargo si se demostró la existencia de relación con los niveles de Hemoglobina (p < 0.05). Se concluye que los niveles de Hemoglobina se ven influenciados con la variedad en el consumo de alimentos, y que una inadecuada utilización de ellos pueden llevar a un cuadro de anemia por déficit de hierro.
