Durante décadas el potencial porfídico del Batolito Andahuaylas-Yauri en el sur del Perú
ha sido evaluado de manera limitada, los nuevos estudios regionales plasman mapas isovalóricos
de tendencias geoquímicas que permiten apreciar esta área como una valiosa provincia
metalogenética que albergaría importantes depósitos de pórfidos de cobre (PCD) considerado hoy
como una importante prolongación del cinturón cuprífero eoceno-oligoceno del norte de Chile,
donde se ha confirmado varios tipos de depósitos entre los cuales destacan pórfidos de Cu–Mo,
Cu–Au, skarn y vetas auríferas. El principal objetivo de este trabajo de investigación es destacar la
trascendencia de los estudios geoquímicos de isótopos radiogénicos en la exploración geológica de
pórfidos de cobre en el sur del Perú. En cuanto a la Metodología, es un estudio relacional,
descriptivo, retrospectivo y de revisión documental de la literatura científica. Los resultados
obtenidos revelan que, los estudios geoquímicos con herramientas isotópicas radiogénicas en la
exploración geológica de pórfidos de cobre, tienen un alto índice de incidencia y eficacia; los
análisis por isotopos de U/Pb los cuales se manifiestan en un 65.4%, reportan su aplicación y
efectividad en diferentes escenarios en el mundo. Un 34.6% reportan investigaciones de aplicación
de isotopos no tradicionales de Estroncio en la evaluación genética de yacimientos. Conclusiones:
La geoquímica de Isotopos Radiogénicos en la exploración geológica de pórfidos de Cu, brinda
información clave para la configuración de modelos relevantes de alteraciones y fluidos
hidrotermales, emplazamientos y geocronología, elementos válidos para la caracterización
metalogenética de importantes clusters de pórfidos en el mundo.
