Investigación de tipo descriptivo correlacional de corte transversal, se realizó en el Hospital Leoncio Prado – Huamachuco, 2018; con la finalidad de determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento materno sobre alimentación complementaria y estado nutricional del lactante. La muestra estuvo constituida por 141 madres con sus respectivos lactantes. La recolección de datos se obtuvo mediante los instrumentos: Encuesta de conocimientos de madres sobre alimentación complementaria e Instrumento para valorar el estado nutricional del lactante. Los datos obtenidos fueron tabulados, procesados en SPSS versión 23 y presentados en tablas de simple y doble entrada con frecuencias numéricas y porcentuales. Para determinar la relación entre las variables se utilizó la prueba estadística Chi cuadrado (x2). Los resultados evidencian que: El 61.7 por ciento de madres presentan nivel medio de conocimiento sobre alimentación complementaria, el 33.3 por ciento nivel alto y el 5 por ciento nivel bajo. El estado nutricional del lactante según Peso/Edad el 87.2 por ciento presentan peso normal y el 7.1 por ciento sobrepeso. Según Talla/Edad el 61 por ciento tienen talla normal y el 31.9 por ciento talla baja. Según Peso/Talla el 85.8 por ciento tienen estado nutricional normal y el 6.4 por ciento obesidad. Existe relación significativa entre las variables.
