Relación de horas de sueño, presión arterial y glicemia en ayunas en estudiantes de medicina

Evaluar si existe relación entre la duración de las horas de sueño con la presión arterial y glicemia en ayunas de los estudiantes de medicina. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio analítico y transversal correlacional con muestreo aleatorio empleando una ficha de recolección de datos. Se registró el promedio de tres tomas de presión arterial (PA) y la glicemia en ayunas. Se utilizaron tablas de distribución de frecuencia unidimensionales y bidimensionales con sus valores absolutos y relativos, y la prueba de chi-cuadrado (p<0,05). Resultados: De los 92 estudiantes de medicina incluidos en la muestra, el 53,3% eran varones y la edad promedio fue de 23,7 ± 2,08 DE años. El 69.6% de los participantes afirma haber tenido restricción de sueño, de los cuales el 1,6% presentó PA sistólica normal-alta (X²=1.9 ; P=0.1655), el 4,7% tuvieron PA diastólica normal-alta (X²=0.1 ; P=0.9609), el 6,2% tuvieron hipertensión arterial y el 34.4% (X²=3.8; P=0.049) tuvieron prediabetes. Conclusiones: Si existe relación inversa entre las horas de sueño de los estudiantes de medicina con los niveles de glucosa en ayunas. No se encontró asociación estadísticamente significativa entre las horas de sueño con la elevación de la PA sistólica y PA diastólica.
